Martin Bluth, MD, PhD is founder and president of BBI. He was educated at Downstate Medical Center, receiving his MD and PhD (Immunology) degrees in 1999. He completed a residency in Clinical Pathology/Laboratory Medicine at Kings County Hospital, NY and postdoctoral fellowship in tumor markers at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in NY. He also completed a fellowship in Transfusion Medicine/Blood Banking at the New York Blood Center, NY and maintains board certification as Diplomat for the American Board of Pathology.
Dr Bluth previously served as Director of Research at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, Vice President of BioMedica Corporation, Chief Medical Officer for Consolidated Laboratory Management Systems, Director of Translational Research for the department of Pathology and Director of Clinical Programs – Asia/Pacific at Wayne State University School of Medicine, in addition to Associate Director of the Transfusion Service for the Detroit Medical Center. He currently serves as Professor of Pathology at Wayne State School of Medicine, Director of Pathology Laboratories for Michigan Surgical Hospital and Medical Director for Kids Kicking Cancer.
Dr Bluth is Editor-in-Chief/Founding Editor for the journals (1) Pharmacogenomics and Personalized Medicine, (2) Journal of Blood Medicine, (3) Journal of Biorepository Science for Applied Medicine (Dove Press), (4) Journal of Applied Clinical Pathology (SciTeMed Press), serves as Associate Editor for Henry’s Clinical Diagnosis and Management by Laboratory Methods (Elsevier press), reviews for over 20 peer reviewed journal and is well published (>250 publications). He has expertise in diagnostics development and translational medicine, is trained in Lean /Six Sigma and applies translational/ medical algorithms to increase efficiency of biomarker discovery for disease diagnosis and response to therapy.
Dr Bluth serves on numerous national and international boards, planning committees and associations including the International Association of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring and Clinical Toxicology, Committee on Healthcare Quality Efficiency and Economics, Opioid Prescription Stewardship Task Force, among others.
Dr Bluth is a serial entrepreneur and has matured companies in healthcare diagnosis, therapeutics and commercialization and consults for corporate, state, legal, biotech, medical, pharmaceutical, national and international organizations worldwide.
